Planet Zoo 2 launches in two editions. Both contain the complete game on all four storefronts. The decision is entirely about whether the Deluxe extras are worth $15 to you, and the honest answer today is that Frontier has not fully explained what those extras are.

The six Deluxe animals, confirmed by name
✅ Confirmed in Zoopedia itself (October 2, 2026). Frontier's own Zoopedia tags six species as Deluxe content, so this is no longer a community guess. PlayStation and Xbox both state the count as "an additional six animal species plus exclusive animal signs", and Zoopedia supplies the names.
| Deluxe species | Group | IUCN status |
|---|---|---|
| Golden Eagle | Bird | Least concern |
| Golden Lion Tamarin | Mammal | Endangered |
| Axolotl | Amphibian | Critically endangered |
| Blue and Gold Fusilier | Fish | Least concern |
| Great Hammerhead | Shark | Critically endangered |
| Longfin Batfish | Fish | Least concern |
Four of the six are water animals, which fits the aquarium being this sequel's headline feature. The full roster page marks each of these with a Deluxe note beside every other species.
How to decide
- Buy Standard if you want the game and would rather decide on extras after launch. Nothing in the Standard build is feature-cut.
- Buy Deluxe if six more species and matching signage are worth $15 to you on day one, or if you already know you will want them later. The community wiki documents the pack as the game's first DLC, purchasable separately, though Frontier has not confirmed standalone pricing.
Both editions cost the same on every storefront listed on the platforms page, ship on the release date of October 13, 2026, and the longer content outlook is on the DLC page. If the six reported species hold up, four of them would slot into the aquarium system.
FAQ
Is the Deluxe Edition required for the full game?
No. Both editions contain the same game. The Deluxe difference is the bonus animal pack and signage, nothing else.
Do both editions get the pre-order Bonus Content Pack?
Yes. Both editions list the Bonus Content Pack, and both console stores itemise its three items: the Toucan Eat Shop and Signage, three unique animal donation bins, and a Tiger Photo Stand-In Wall.
Does the Deluxe Edition include six extra animals?
Yes, and we can now name them. Zoopedia tags six entries Deluxe: the Golden Eagle, Golden Lion Tamarin, Axolotl, Blue and Gold Fusilier, Great Hammerhead and Longfin Batfish. The table above lists each with its IUCN status.
Can I upgrade to Deluxe later?
Xbox's page records the Deluxe Upgrade Pack as its own add-on, which implies a standalone purchase, but Frontier has not confirmed upgrade-path pricing. The longer content picture is on the DLC page.
